Southside Disaster Relief Effort
"For I was an hungry, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." Matthew 25:35-36. On April 27th, 2011 over 162 tornados ravaged Alabama. Some people lost homes, some homes were damaged, and most were without power for awhile. Southside Baptist members stepped up to help in the days to come and are continuting to help with the Disaster Relief effort.
We are collecting donations at the 208 Westmoreland building. You may bring your items before Sunday School, and before and after worship on Sunday.
These are the needs that we see at the present time, but, are updating our list almost on a daily basis:
- All size disposable diapers
- Baby wipes
- Baby formula (with/without iron, soy)
- Baby food and juice
- Baby T-shirts and baby pants
- Pedilyte
- Baby shampoo, lotion, and baby wash
- Baby washcloths and towels
- New socks and underwear(children thru adult)
- Kids care pacakges
For monetary donations: Make checks payable to Southside Baptist Church #150. Funds collected will be used to purchase designated items above. You will receive contribution credit for any donations made through Southside. If you give cash, mark an envelope with #150 and your name to receive contribution credit.
Items for "Care Packages For Kids". This is a local charity that is gathering items to make gift bags for kids affected by the storms. They are looking for toys, books, blankets, coloring or activity books, back packs, totes, stuffed animals, play doh, puzzles, Bibles, sippy cups, etc. Southside will serve as a drop-off point for this charity.
