Missions Open House

by Randy Kidd

Southside Baptist Church has a history of supporting missions in many ways. We pray for missionaries. We support local, state, national, and international missions financially. We go on mission trips, and several members have been called into missionary service. One form of direct contact with missionaries involves providing a residence for them while on furlough in the United States.

Our current missionary residence is the newly acquired home at 216 Westmoreland Avenue. In September a whole host of people spent a labor of love remodeling and refurbishing the house in anticipation of its first family.

The Sarran family arrived from Lyon, France on October 9, 2008. Alex and Suzanne have three sons: Matthew (6), Timothy (4), and Etienne (Stephen in English) (1). Suzanne's parents, missionaries from the U.S., planted the evangelistic church in Lyon in January of 1998. Alex, born in Lyon and one of the charter members, became pastor in 2004. The church has an average of 25 in attendance. Alex wears many hats as pastor, lead Bible teacher, evangelist, and administrator. Suzanne is especially gifted in hospitality as she plans weekly meals at church and provides pastoral support for Alex.

The Missions Committee is thankful for the Lord's leadership in providing the Mission House, workers, and a missionary family. Please pray for the Sarrans and for us as we seek out the next missionary family.
